I was running Update 13 (latest release). I guess there is a bug in Cisco’s ASDM software requiring Java 6 Update 7. In the end turned out to be a Java version problem. Interesting part was all along CLI was working great, so ASA itself couldn’t have been the problem. I even tried different laptops thinking hardware problems. I spent some time troubleshooting the usual, configuration, ACL’s, different Interfaces, removing and re-installing software but in the end same results. The application can be executed as a Java Web Start application. It simply sat there I mean it would begin a connection and then nothing (no errors) just the appearance of a frozen app. Problem My goal was to use Cisco ASDM on a Ubuntu system for the Linux systems Cisco offers a Java version of the ASDM application. Recently I wanted to make some configuration changes and discovered ASDM (Cisco’s answer to Nortel’s management GUI) would not load. 1.4(3) which is offered as a download when you try to login through the web interface of. Cisco’s ASA-5520 firewall is a great product but just like any other commercial product has its quirks and quarks. ![]()
